As I was getting ready for work today, my son Donovan, was doing his part to get himself ready. He got dressed, ate his breakfast, cleared his dishes and brushed his teeth. All things he was taught to do, and does most of the time, without being reminded to do them. Chalk one up to being a good mommy.. woo hoo.
Somedays are better than others, and today was a really good one.
When I was finally ready to go, I sat on his little foot stool, and took him into my arms and asked him, "What did I do to be so lucky to have a great kid like you? " he responded this way..." You had a baby, mommy".
It never ceases to amaze me, the things he says, and how the happy little words from his mouth can brighten even the darkest of my days.
I have always felt that he was a little too existential for his age, but he has this sense of profound logic that just floors me, on a regular basis.
So, I told him that I was lucky that I had a baby, and that I am so happy that that baby was him. Big Hug.
I could sit here all day telling you little stories about him. I am sure that eventually , they will start to surface, but all I know is that for every time he tries my patience, or pushes my buttons in some 4 year old way, there are about 1000 things he does to make my heart fill so up with love that I feel that it might burst.
I truly am so lucky to have this great kid, as my son.
Thanks for reading.
