I had such a great time on the Arkansas River!!! These photos were taken about 10 minutes before I was literally BOUNCED, yes--that's correct..I was EJECTED from that fine looking vessel you see.( I am the one in front wearing the BRIGHT PINK helmut) We apparently did NOT have enough momentum to make it over "The Big Drop" rapid and when the boat sort of 'folded' into half, I was, as a witness put it, "Popped" out if the boat.
Can I just tell you how freaking cold that river was????
I was cold, not so scared, though I was a bit frightened, as I could not really recall all they told me to do, or not do in case we " went swimming" .
So I was trying hard to remember what they told us. Toes and nose up, Don't stand up, Hold onto your T-grip, so on and so on....
I think that the best (and also the worst) part was I was the only one to do it, out of our whole group, that consisted of the young and old ranging in age from 5 to about 50 I would guess, and here I am bounced out. hahahahaha!!
Our guide, John, a guy who, ironically was the only one on the whole boat who was NOT from Colorado (who was, from all places, BOSTON!!!) got me out quickly, as he moved the boat closer to grab me by my life vest, and then I could also grab on to the tie line on the side of the boat.
I had a good laugh afterward, as did my sister, Dari as I asked her, "did you try to grab me??" And to this she replied,, " AHAHAHA, NO!! I was shocked to see you go over!"
We did get a good laugh out of it, it was pretty hilarious to see me ejected like that.
All in all, I had one of the best times of my life. It was a very relaxing yet exhilarating trip down 14 miles of river, and I saw some of the 14'er's that Chris loves so much to climb, and I would do it all again whenever I could, even the falling!!!

About Me
- Heidi
- I was raised in Colorado, but born in Kansas, so I guess that makes me a Kansas native. But home is where the heart is, right? I am a stay at home mom, wife and free spirit. I have an amazing husband who lights up my life with his mere presence in it. I have two amazing sons Donovan, who is 10 years old and Owen who is 3 years old. I am also mommy to a daughter named Julianna Alyse who was born in January 2009. I also have two wonderful step children, Katie who is 15 and Connor who is 11. I have weathered many storms, an eating disorder, and divorce, not to mention life itself and here I am stronger for it!!I love movies, games, (not the head type, thank you) and spending time with my kids, my husband, and my family.
