Well, the past 5 days have been interesting to say the least.
Here I am at 35 weeks:
Last Weds, I was very productive, as in a very nesting kind of way productive.
I went to Babies 'R" Us and bought Owen a pack n play, and some other essentials.
Then I came home and for 2 hours I cleaned, I dusted, I vacuumed, and I organized.
Then I started having contractions.
At first they were BH, or Braxton Hicks-like, I have been having those for weeks. But then they started to get more intense, nearly painful. That's when Chris came home.
I was scared to tell him, admittedly,as I was in denial. I was not ready, it was too soon, and it was NOT happening. But I did tell him and at first he was not concerned, until he saw my discomfort.
He requested that I stop what I was doing, go potty, drink a large amount of water, and rest for 30 minutes. All the things you do to stop premature labor.. which as of last Weds, I was still only 36 weeks, not term, in other words, pre term, or early.
Well I did, and they did not stop, and since I was still in denial, we went ahead and went to the boys Cub Scout pack meeting. The whole time, I was having contractions, about every 6 minutes or so, and lasting about an minute each.
We came home, Chris promptly sent me to lie down again, and after an hour and 20 minutes, they were like clockwork, 6 minutes apart, 1 minute long..time to call the Dr.
They sent us to the Labor and Delivery floor of the hospital and checked me in. We had not packed for this, since we really still had 3 more weeks, so we took what we could there.
My parents came to take care of Donovan, my sister came, she is my 2nd support person, and we started to prepare for Owen's arrival..only the star of the show was not having any part of it.
Every time the nurse tried to check how far I was dilated, he would pull his little noggin out of the birth canal and refused to engage to help move things along.
RRGGGHH!!!! Can you say stubborn? I can see what I have to look forward to with this child.. the joy.
Anyway, I contracted the whole time, we walked around for an hour, they even got so close that they were now 2-3 minutes apart and only 45 seconds long..but yet still no progress.
I rested for 2 hours to see if that would work, nope..so they finally said, this isn't going anywhere...at least not until that baby drops down and helps.
So they gave me Ambien, sent be home and said one of two things would happen, 1) I would relax and he would drop and we would have a baby within 24 hours, or 2) I would relax and the contractions would stop.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Neither of those things happened, instead, I have been having the same contractions since Weds.. they are more intense when I stand or walk, but they still happen all night long, all day long, and still no baby.
I went to my Dr on Friday, and she added to the frustration by telling me that where I was on the time line was too far for stopping it, but too soon to help it along..so I was in pregnancy purgatory...it was agony, it is agony...I want to met him, I want to see him, hold him, and be done... NOW, I am ready..let's get this show on the road.
We go back to the Dr tomorrow, as of then, I will officially be 37 weeks, or full term and I am not leaving until they agree to induce me..I refuse to have contractions for 3 more weeks...consider it a Heidi Strike... but mark my words.. there will a new member of our family THIS week.. Mamma says so.
As of today, I have been in active Labor for 5 days in a row, I am dilated 1 cm, and ready as I will ever be to have this baby, now if he would only get on board!!
The next time I post...it will be to share the birth story, a whole week after it began.. stay tuned!!!

About Me
- Heidi
- I was raised in Colorado, but born in Kansas, so I guess that makes me a Kansas native. But home is where the heart is, right? I am a stay at home mom, wife and free spirit. I have an amazing husband who lights up my life with his mere presence in it. I have two amazing sons Donovan, who is 10 years old and Owen who is 3 years old. I am also mommy to a daughter named Julianna Alyse who was born in January 2009. I also have two wonderful step children, Katie who is 15 and Connor who is 11. I have weathered many storms, an eating disorder, and divorce, not to mention life itself and here I am stronger for it!!I love movies, games, (not the head type, thank you) and spending time with my kids, my husband, and my family.
