I feel like I have only been using my blog to update everyone on what's going on.. I guess that's fine, but even then, there is so much I leave out.
At times I feel like I live a rather mundane existence, but when I think about it, I really don't.
We traded in the PT Cruiser I bought in Jan 2006 and Chris' Land Rover (stripes removed) for a brand new, bright blue FJ Cruiser.
Chris loves it, one of the reasons ( there are many) is it's a stick shift.
He tells me everyday, with a big silly grin on his face, how much he loves his car. I am happy that he does, we really wanted to save some money by trading in two cars and going home with one, but since Chris's ex wife and he still share the mortgage for the house she still lives in, our payments are a bit more than they would be normally.
But, that's okay, we are finally down to a two car family again.
The big trick now is to fit them both in the garage.
Here is a picture of the new car.Chris hasn't nicknamed it yet, but I am sure a name is not too far off in the future.
Chris and I made the trip to the bookstore and bought the final installment of the Harry Potter series, we raced each other this week to finish it, I came in a close second, finishing it yesterday afternoon. I won't give it away, but it was worth the wait. I only wish there were more to follow.
Let's see, what else is going on, oh yeah...Donovan has been in Illinois with his dad for almost 2 weeks. His dad, my ex husband, got remarried. She seems nice, I met her briefly when they came to pick up him for vacation. I really wanted to warn her, but then again, no one warned me, and maybe what they have is so much more different than what he and I had. Lord knows its that way with me and Chris. I wish them all the best.
This is the longest he has ever been away from me since he was born, and I am doing okay.
Last night I was really missing him, but I know he will be home soon. I get to see him again Sunday. I can't wait, I bet he has grown at least 2 inches.
Chris and I took advantage of having only 1 of our 4 kids last weekend and went up to Blackhawk to do a bit of playing while my parents took care of Owen for us.
I did well-- I put $20 into a slot machine and walked away with$100!! Chris did not do as well, but we didn't leave too much down for the night.
Last week, I only had Owen here with me, and this week, it's just me Owen and Connor. I like being able to have some one on one time with Connor to get to know him better. He really is a different kid with out the others around. He has really grown closer to me, I get several hugs during the day and he and I can play and mess around, there is not tension like there was in the beginning. He has really become close to my heart. I wish Katie was around more and would give being here more of a chance, too. Maybe she would come around as well, but then again she is 12 now...I have to remember that. I was 12 once.
She has not been here since our family reunion over the weekend of the 14th. I am pleased that she at least came over, I was wondering if she would or not. She even made a friend from one of my cousins kids, Shaelynne, a girl only 1 year younger...that was very cool.
The boys go back to school in August, the week of the 22nd. Connor will be a 3rd grader and Donovan a 2nd grader!!
I go back to work then as well. I will only be working part time for a friend in Denver, but it will still be work.
Donovan starts flag football in August, and he has a piano recital on the 25th. I will be sure to get pictures or video if I can.
Owen will be 4 months old on the 1st. I can't get over how fast the time has gone. I can still remember being in labor with him. Then again it was for 2 weeks!!!
He is sitting up almost all by himself, he has great control of his hands and strong strong legs, and he is finally sleeping through the night about 3-4 times a week.
I will ask his Dr. about starting cereal in a few weeks. Not that he needs it, he is already in size 3 diapers...close to 17 lbs!!!He has successfully doubled his birth weight, I am sure.
I got interviewed to be on the Rachael Ray show, more details about that as the develop...my 15 minutes of fame perhaps??
I guess for now that's all I have. To those of you who read my blog, thanks for doing so.
Have a wonderful day!!!
...for those of you who are interested, here are some updated photos, one of Owen, one of the whole lot, and one of the three big kids in Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma.

About Me
- Heidi
- I was raised in Colorado, but born in Kansas, so I guess that makes me a Kansas native. But home is where the heart is, right? I am a stay at home mom, wife and free spirit. I have an amazing husband who lights up my life with his mere presence in it. I have two amazing sons Donovan, who is 10 years old and Owen who is 3 years old. I am also mommy to a daughter named Julianna Alyse who was born in January 2009. I also have two wonderful step children, Katie who is 15 and Connor who is 11. I have weathered many storms, an eating disorder, and divorce, not to mention life itself and here I am stronger for it!!I love movies, games, (not the head type, thank you) and spending time with my kids, my husband, and my family.
